Business cards and finished products…

Well, i decided to make this “freelance artist thing” more official and create 3 custom business cards to promote myself. This one is the first out of the three designs that i will use. It uses a design i created a few months ago. I have no idea why but it seems to “strike” (pun intended) people when they see it. I have gotten quite a few requests for my RetroRainShirt when I find somewhere to print it out how i want it printed. Even in Canada.

In other news, I finished the cartoon character for the music artist and now will start on their Myspace page. Unfortunately, I am not currently able to post the finished product here due to restrictions currently set but the client. When I am allowed to post it then I will. But on a good note, artist loves the character and will definitely refer potential clients who may need my services.

I love seeing my ideas turn into reality and its also a great feeling to do that for someone else. I am really enjoying this and am hoping that I can take this “hobby” to heights I never thought possible.

I felt it was missing a little something...

This is an update to the IceCreamShirt posted a while ago. I felt like it was missing something and I am satisfied with what I came up with and added to the initial design. It was plaguing me for a while.

My Progress.

Things have been quite busy for me these past couple of months and I have not been able to work on any great new original projects unfortunately. But, I have begun to get work as a graphics designer. I am currently working on two projects: a business postcard for a paralegal and album art and a Myspace page for a local Atlanta, GA artist. I possibly have another job (via referral) on the way to design a business card for a restaurant of some sort. If I get the “OK” from my clients the finished products will be on here.

I am also currently deciding on a company name and business card for myself. I hope everything turns out well and that this is the start of a great venture for me.

I decided to take my retroRain tee to somewhat “another level” and add some text to give it some “attitude.” Its kind of in the same vein as the “PartyPooper” tee. Putting a funny or fresh spin on a negative.

I’m not a huge party person. Mainly because I don’t like the atmosphere. the smoking. the drinking. the drunks.

But I do believe I know how to have fun and I can definitely take being called the “square” out of the group and being the butt of the jokes (pun intended). That’s why I made this shirt.  Its for the people like me who know how to have fun even though it may not be EXACTLY like how everyone else does it.

I got the idea for this shirt on the way back from my trip to GA. It was raining pretty hard. I love art because you can get inspiration from ANYTHING and put your own spin and style to it. And that is exactly what I did here. I would definitely wear this!

IceCreamShirt!

I love ice cream. don’t you love it too? MMMM…

Anyway, for the next couple of posts I will be showing a couple of retro-esque original t-shirt designs that I created and would wear (and see on quite a few others, also). This one is my ice cream shirt (duh!).  I really like how this one came out. the cone was an accident but I loved it so I decided to keep it the way you see here. I’m thinking of adding a little bit more to this shirt. Maybe some text…

Rough Mini Logo (to look cool)

This is a rough version of what I want my cool mini logo to look like. I’m out of town and I created this using Microsoft PowerPoint and MS Paint. Not bad, huh?

Nike has the swoosh/check (its actually a wing representing the Greek goddess of victory and strength, Nike) and I have the GDstar logo. Expect to see the blog updated with it sometime soon.  Colors and other things may change of course.

All from scratch. no inspiration. I’m quite proud of it. Since my last couple projects I have experimented with the pen tool, combining simple shapes, and altering normal shapes using transform tools to create the custom shape I want. Also found out about “double strokes.”

OUTTA PAPER!

Created because of an actual need. I needed toilet paper and there was none. What more inspiration would you need to create this? I found a reference image that was like this and I thought I could make it a vector and make it well. I think I did ok.
